The European Council of Lay Dominican Fraternities pray you and your families have a truly grace-filled and blessed Christmas.

Feast of St Boniface
1. Encourage through all patience and teaching… put up with hardship… and fulfill your ministry. In these words to Timothy, Paul includes all the elements of a holy preaching: encouragement, patience, hardship and fulfilment.
2. Encouragement: The word means ‘to put heart into,’ or ‘to comfort.’ It is also one of the readings for the feast of St Dominic, who was described by his companions as ‘the best possible comforter’ and encourager. To encourage does not mean to simply pat another on the back but rather to put into the other one’s own heart.

La Huitième Assemblée Européenne des Fraternités Laïques Dominicaines a eu lieu à Caleruega du 26 au 30 Mai . ( 1988, Prouilhe ; 1992, Budapest, ; 1995, Varsovie ; 1998, Vienne (Autriche) ; 2001, Fognano, (Italie) ; 2004, Walberberg (Allemagne) ; 2008, Trencianske Teplice (Slovaquie) ; 2011, Caleruega ).
In October 2018 the Third International Congress of Lay Dominican Fraternities was held in Fatima, Portugal. The theme of this Congress: “Our Future: Justice, Peace and Care of Creation” and it was held in an atmosphere of fruitful discussions, fraternal exchange and collaboration.
The lay Dominicans from Warsaw invited representatives of the Dominican Family for the common celebration. The occasion for the meeting was the peregrination of the image of St. Dominic through the European provinces of the Order of Preachers, as part of the year dedicated to lay Dominicans.
As in 2017 and 2018 there will be a Dominican Month for Peace during the period of the Advent 2019. While we are all waiting for the celebration of the mystery of the incarnation of the Prince of Peace, our focus will be on peace in lndia.
On 8 April 2012, for personal reasons, Jacinta O’Donnell resigned from the European Council. In accordance with paragraph 1.A.7 of the Statutes, her place has been taken by Eva Zúdorová.
From October 4 to 10, 2018 the Third International Congress of Lay Dominican Fraternities will be held in Fatima, Portugal. The deadline for registration is extended to the 31 July.
